<description>Invertebrate sampling

Land-based resources at Reading University

A case study (based on a module at the University of Reading) demonstrating the construction and testing of a hypothesis. The study looks at the observation that there has been a steady decline in farm birds and poses the hypothesis that this is due to a reduction in their food (i.e. invertebrates). The example shows how to design a suitable study to generate enough data to test the hypothesis and uses more complicated statistics than the woodland survey tool also available on this web page.

<title>Algebra for quantity surveying students</title>
<link>http://dspace.jorum.ac.uk:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/7168</link>
<description>Algebra for quantity surveying students

Leslie Fletcher and/or JMU

This is the beginning of a handout suitable for motivating quantity surveying students to study algebra as RICS appears to wants them to do. It is very much work in progress so expansion, correcting and improvement would be most welcome. There is more about this in my FETLAR blog at http://stack.bham.ac.uk/blog/index.php?userid=385&amp;courseid=14 (login needed); I will repeat this blog entry in the JORUM Community Bay some time soon.
